Gravity's first popular MMORPG was Ragnarok Online. It was known as the first Korean titles that became significant in Western markets. Ragnarok Online became popular in Japan and Korea, where the userbase remains strongest. Ragnarok II was released in 2007. A beta version was released in Korea using Unreal 2.5 engine.
During the Korea's G conference in Busan, Global Business Manager Yunghun Lee answered the question about Ragnarok II. Lee admitted that they launched Ragnarok II in 2007. That version had revised the systems. The engine and other accessories were changed to a new game. The company was now using Gamebryo. It will be released next year. Over the last few years, Gravity tried to release games in a variety of genres, but those were unsuccessful according to Lee. This carries forward a thread of distrust in Gravity’s management, after accusations in 2006 that the previous chairman, Jung Ryool Kim, was diverting money from the company to himself. CEO Brian Yoon Seok Kang stated the company has refocused its efforts on going up and extrapolating the Ragnarok brand. They want to do what Square-Enix has done with Final Fantasy VII.
