Game developers' shopping spree Playdom. It is the gaming giant which acquired social game publisher Acclaim Games.
Acclaim was a virtually recognized MMORPG world. Last March 2010, the company introduced RockFree which is a popular game in Facebook with thousands of active users everyday. According to Acclaim, another FB game will be launched before the summer ends. Howard Marks, CEO of Acclaim and co-founder and Chairman of the Activision Studios, will lead the Acclaim studio for Playdom. Neil Malhotra will serve as the studio's senior technical officer. Playdom has expanded its presence in FB. It also purchased FB’s game developer, Offbeat Creations and Three Melons. Did you know that Playdom invested $5 million in FB game developer MetroGames? Playdom recently bought popular Merscom. Last November, Playdom gained $43 million at a $260 million appraisal from 28 million monthly game users. Zynga is the main rival of Playdom.
